MEET THE TEACHER
JENN JURGENS
Jen's journey through life has been a colorful tapestry woven with experiences across the diverse landscape of the United States. Born and raised in the Seattle, Washington area, Jen's adventurous spirit led her to traverse the nation, calling places like Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, Utah, and Colorado home. Alongside her husband of two decades and their three wonderful children, Jen's household is a bustling sanctuary filled with three dogs, 2 cats, and 2 ferrets, a testament to her deep love for animals.

An educator with a passion for nurturing young minds, Jen's career path has been as varied as her geographical footprint. With a degree in American Studies and Business Management as her foundation, Jen embarked on a journey that saw her wear multiple hats, from being a Swim Instructor specializing in both adaptive and standard swimming, to serving as a compassionate Home Health Caregiver, and even stepping into the role of an efficient Office Manager.

However, it was her transition into the field of education that truly ignited her purpose. For the past seven years, Jen has been an integral part of the Special Education department at District 51, where she has left an indelible mark on both elementary and high school students. Her most recent role as the Significant Support Needs teacher at Mesa View Elementary exemplifies her dedication to fostering inclusive learning environments where every child can thrive.

Jen's teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that education is not merely about imparting knowledge but about nurturing holistic growth. She sees her role as that of a cheerleader, guiding her students along their individual journeys, celebrating their successes, and providing unwavering support during challenges. With a keen focus on social and emotional learning, Jen endeavors to equip her students with the tools to navigate the complexities of the human experience with empathy, resilience, and grace.
